Bye Bye Sage Creek

It has officially been one week since I have not been employed at Sage Creek Salon. I am SO SAD! It feels weird not going and seeing these beautiful girls' faces. I will miss you all so much (and also the girls not pictured!). Not doing hair, if only for one week, has made me realize how much I love it! It is truly what my "career" is supposed to be. I miss it already!  Girls, thanks for everything that you all taught me; and thanks to my Mom for setting an example and showing me this amazing occupation!

Tender Whisperings of the Spirit

I had an amazing opportunity that I felt like sharing. This is President Dieter F. Uchtdorf, the second counselor in the First Presidency of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. For those of you who may not be aware, he is an ordained apostle of our Savior, Jesus Christ.

Yesterday my mom, sister, Ian, Meggie and I were shopping in Tai pan. I was definitely getting my dose of birth control as I was entertaining Meggie by picking up everything she was throwing on the ground, and trying to keep Ian busy at the same time. (I was volunteering to watch the kids, not being forced! Amanda found some really great decorations for her up-coming sell of her house!) I decided to sit with Ian on this huge box, with Meggie in the cart in front of me. All of a sudden, Ian said, "Shelsy, down, I want down". Of course, this is the last thing that I want because then he is free to roam about the store. So, I ignored him the first time. Then it came again, "Shelsy, down, pease?" I was a bit frustrated, and turned around with a somewhat annoyed look on my face, grabbed my nephew, and got him down from the box that we were sitting on. Out of the corner of my eye I saw a man that I thought I recognized. He turned and smiled, I smiled, and suddenly realized that it was Elder Uchtdorf. I cannot believe the feeling that came over me. The Spirit of the Lord was so strong in this Apostle's presence. Our Church is true. I am thankful for the blessing of personal revelation, for at that very moment I knew that I was in the presence of a great man. A man who has chosen to follow Christ and to teach what He once taught when He was here on this Earth. It was witnessed to me that I should follow him, follow Christ, for in their paths will I come to live with my Heavenly Father again. I pray to never forget that tender testimony that I was given in the midst of frustration.

Hardware FAILURE

Yes, sad, but true....
The red lights of death have taken over our Xbox 360. Late last night I was sound asleep in my bed when my husband came into the bedroom in a solemn state. He only said 4 words to me:

"My Xbox is dead".

He then turned around and left the room. Now, you may think this is funny, but it has been a trying time for Cody; and for me now that he is considering purchasing another one! Okay, I admit, I definitely laughed when he left...but there was some consoling needed! I think once his online Xbox buddies like PARAMOLAR, wYrbender, Jango35, Sammyhain, Mongo Tickler, cee3po, Grimmus...find out they will be saddened. For the sake of them, we have taken this picture:

Biggest Loser Addiction

FEMALE Biggest Loser! Woo-hoo!
I am completely addicted to the biggest loser. Basically, I can't go without it! I am dreading next week, honestly! This season was so exciting because a WOMAN won! I think that is so amazing, it really gives inspiration to all of those woman who just compare their weight loss to men.
Ali, however....I wish that Kelly would have won. I feel like Ali got a little cocky, and, she got kicked off! It was a twist in the middle of the season where they just randomly voted off a team, and it happened to be pink. A month or so later, the girl who had lost the most at home got to come back on the show, and that happened to be Ali. Anyway, I feel like Kelly almost deserved it more...but either way I am happy that a GIRL won! Look at how amazing they look! It is insane!

Cody's 23!!!

Yes, he is 23 years old! (Okay, so he was 23 a week ago...I just haven't posted yet!) Anyway, I can't believe it! If he is getting older that means that I am getting older, too! AHH! hehe! Anyway, his birthday was on conference weekend, so we definitely spent a lot of time with eachother, it was just in front of the television. On his actual birthday, Amanda and Kevin made us a killer meal. Cody loves BBQ, and unfortunately here in P-town we can't have them on our porches...so that means none at all! We ate Kevin's DELICIOUS BBQ steak and chicken along with asparagus, THE GOO, fresh fruit, potatoes, salad, bread...it goes on and on. Sadly, I had to resort to a cake at the last minute since I had a failure with his wished for dessert on his birthday. Oops!
After dinner Uncle Cody had some one-on-one golf lessons with Ian. He is pretty much a stud now! It was halarious to see Cody spend like 1 minute showing him how to stand, how to swing, where to hold his head....

And then to see Ian just take a wack at it the next time that he got a chance to do it on his own!

We had to let Megan get a shot in, too...Yes, Kevin is holding her....she isn't just some super baby that can stand on the edge of a table at a slant! haha! Good try though, Kevin!

Anyway, when we got home I had Cody open his present...Mom, Dad and I entered him into the
TANGLE!
For you non-briarwood-ers, this is an amazing tournament. He will be playing with my pops in three rounds of golf, be fed for basically 3 days straight, have a shot at flag prizes on every single hole, and basically love life the entire time!
Happy Birthday!!!
